Grading schedule

The courses on this platform are graded periodically. The grading has been adjusted to match the Aalto graduation dates (i.e., you’ll get the grade before the deadline for applying for graduation). The grading schedule is as follows.

Grading process and requests

Aalto University students

For Aalto University students, including exchange students, you are expected to enroll to the course in question in SISU from where your enrollment is transferred to MyCourses. The transfer is known to take a day or even more.

In the course page in MyCourses, there is an area where you can return a code that you get from the course platform. Once you return the code, you have requested grading.

In the case the course you are applying for grading includes an exam, there is no need to return a code from the course platform. Instead, attend the exam at the latest on the “submit grading request by” date.

Other students and lifewide learners

Given a Finnish social security number, you return the code from the course platform to Opintopolku (the courses have explicit links).

Any grading requests from Opintopolku are centrally handled and sent out to Aalto teachers periodically. Teachers at Aalto do not have direct access to grading requests sent to Opintopolku. Thus, the schedule for grading Opintopolku requests does not follow the schedule outlined above.

Deadlines and course updates

Unless otherwise noted, the courses on this platform do not have explicit deadlines beyond the course end dates. If no end dates are given, the course is available for self-paced learning at least until the end of the year.

The courses and the course materials are periodically updated to reflect advances in the field. During updates, old coursework and materials may be removed and new coursework and materials introduced. This has also an effect on accumulated course points. Progress on removed coursework or materials is not counted towards completion of the course.

So far, upcoming larger material changes have been announced at least 3 months prior to the changes. This is subject to change, however, and the course staff may make changes with shorter notice.

Larger updates are scheduled to take place in January, May, and September. In addition, when there is a scheduled course version running at Aalto, the materials may be updated and released throughout the course.
