Grading process and requests

Aalto University students

For Aalto University students, including exchange students, you are expected to enroll to the course in question in SISU from where your enrollment is transferred to MyCourses. The transfer is known to take a day or even more.

Up-to-date and authoritative information about individual courses and their grading is available on the MyCourses page of the currently running course version.

For courses with an exam, the grading is done after the exam period.

For courses without an exam, you need to return a code from the course platform to MyCourses. Such courses typically have a separate grading information page, which provides the code.

Other students and lifewide learners

Given a Finnish social security number, you return the code from the course platform to Opintopolku (the courses have explicit links).

Any grading requests from Opintopolku are centrally handled and sent out to Aalto teachers periodically. Teachers at Aalto do not have direct access to grading requests sent to Opintopolku. Thus, the schedule for grading Opintopolku requests does not follow the schedule outlined above.

Deadlines and course updates

Unless otherwise noted, the courses on this platform do not have explicit deadlines beyond the course end dates. If no end dates are given, the course is available for self-paced learning at least until the end of the year.

Note that Aalto students may have deadlines for course completion in MyCourses, which may not explicitly mentioned on this course platform. The authoritative source of information about the courses for Aalto students is the MyCourses of the currently running course version.

The courses and the course materials are periodically updated to reflect advances in the field. During updates, old coursework and materials may be removed and new coursework and materials introduced. This has also an effect on accumulated course points. Progress on removed coursework or materials is not counted towards completion of a course.

Larger updates are scheduled to take place in January, May, and September. In addition, when there is a scheduled course version running at Aalto, the materials may be updated and released throughout the course.
